About WomanACT

The Woman Abuse Council of Toronto (WomanACT) is dedicated to eradicating violence against women and promoting gender equity through community mobilization, coordination, research, policy, and education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and Analysis: Conduct desk research and policy analysis related to gender-based violence. Support grant proposals and funded projects. Plan and execute community-based research, including focus groups, surveys, and interviews.
  • Content Development: Develop and maintain training content and materials. Prepare reports, briefs, infographics, and social media content. Implement knowledge mobilization strategies.
  • Policy and Advocacy: Monitor policy changes and analyze issues. Prepare policy briefs, advocacy letters, and related documentation. Support advocacy strategies.
  • Administrative Support: Organize virtual meetings and training sessions. Set agendas, take minutes, and handle evaluations.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Assist in program progress reports and work plans. Work with the WomanACT team to identify training opportunities.

General Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate commitment to anti-oppression, equity, and feminist principles.
  • Participate in WomanACT special events and fundraising initiatives
  • Maintain professional relationships and accurate records

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: Post-secondary degree with 1–3 years of experience, preferably as a research assistant. Strong understanding of gender equity and gender-based violence issues. Experience with qualitative research methods, including academic literature synthesis.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, social media, and presentation tools. Experience in data collection and analysis.
