Stories are powerful! Whenever we are sad or feel low, when going gets tough, we turn to the stories of great men and women who overcame all the roadblocks and defeated their problems to emerge victorious. In their stories, we find that they too were inspired by the stories of people who served as inspiration for them to keep going, to always continue until the goal is realised. In short, stories are what makes humans great, and every human is great because they have crossed many hurdles to live a satisfying life. Every story of every person counts, the only difference is that some choose to give them a concrete form and some don’t. This project is based on the concept that the story of one person inspires another person, whose story again serves as an inspiration for others and so on…every story count, and everyone has a story!
Concept Note
We live in a time of unprecedented challenges wherein unpredictable changes can momentarily overwhelm us. The majority of the time these challenges are out of our control, we can’t do anything about them. They are an inevitable outcome of the complex and highly competitive society in which we live. These situations can perpetuate a self-defeating cycle of rumination, confusion, stress, anxiety, and other debilitating issues. But how often can we come up with such problems fervently? The stigma around discussing mental health issues has been eradicated on the surface level, but in present-day contemporary society, it is still haunting many and more adversely
This book will essentially be an outcome of erudition, tenacity, and willingness of the youth to share their inputs related to their experiences dealing with anxieties and perturbations in present-day contemporary society. We are looking for narratives that can inspire others who are facing the same situation and are still looking for inspiration. This book is a drive to bring to the surface the viewpoints of the youth about their experiences related to anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body image issues, aggression, and many others. Additionally, we are also approaching this book from the perspective of ‘writing as a cathartic act’. As the famous Kidlin’s law says: “If you write the problem down clearly, then the matter is half solved.” We expect that this concept note will encourage a lot of people to write down their problems which can serve both as an outlet and as inspiration for many people, who are in the same boat.
We invite unpublished, original experiences, narratives, and research articles from the youth who are pursuing a BA, MA or even PhD on any issues which are connected with “Unlocking the Chains of Mind: Narratives of the Youth”.
