Junior Research Assistant (JRA): No of post – One

Essential Qualification: Master Degree in Geography, Sociology, Anthropology, Master of Planning (Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Environmental Planning), Public Health Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Rural Development, Natural Resource Management, Sustainable Development, Development Studies, GIS and Remote Sensing or equivalent from an institute of good standing acceptable to IIEST, Shibpur (in India or abroad)

Desirable Requirements:

Basic knowledge on climate change issues, coastal and delta dynamics, socio-economic attributes in fragile ecosystems, participatory data collection techniques, connections between environment and development, community planning and development, micro planning for social and physical infrastructure.

The nature of job would require:
Interaction with various Stake-holders, Collection of data (both from primary and secondary sources), Data Analyses, Report Preparation and their Presentations. Proficiency in local vernacular (Speaking, Reading and Writing in Bengali) are desirable for the assignment. Prior exposure of the candidate to the geography, culture and social set up in Indian Sunderbans/Similar Coastal Regions in India would be preferred.

Fellowship: Rs. 52,696/- per month (inclusive of all) for an initial period of 6 (six) months appointment. During extended period, the fellowship amount in INR may vary based on the currency conversion rate (GBP to INR).
Duration: Initially for a period of six months, may be extended subject to availability of fund and satisfactory performance of the scholar.
