Call for Papers, Articles and Reviews for the Special Issue of Social Science Gazetteer (SSG)
Details of the Theme
The conceptualisation of Social Science is a philosophical and scientific question. All social sciences are ‘human sciences’ (a scientific – critical meaning) as well as reflections of the ideas of social – emancipation (a philosophical meaning). Sociology, Political Science, Economics, History, (Social) Anthropology and (Social) Psychology constitute the body of Social Sciences, however the disciplines associated with literature, languages and meta-physics / philosophy are also close to the world of Social Science. In one sense social Science and liberal arts also have organic interdependence.
In the present day world, be it in knowledge production or knowledge dissemination, the roles of technology, management, empirical data (the domain of mathematics, statistics) and science have challenged the values of social sciences. In popular sense the debate between STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering Mathematics and Management) and Social Science / Liberal Arts in the context of economic / industrial development and socio – cultural / human development respectively have invited academic attention as well as civilizational concern. ‘Man as machine’ or ‘man as controlling “agent” of machines’ have appeared as the theme of debates.
This ongoing frame of reference in the field of knowledge has encouraged ‘Indian Social Science Association – ISSA’ to invite articles / research papers from scholars of all fields of knowledge – Sociology, Political Science, Economics, History, Anthropology, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Health Studies, Women / Gender Studies, Disability Studies, Media Studies / Journalism, Environment, Law, Population Studies / Statistics, Management – with the principal theme of ‘Challenges Before Social Sciences’. These articles / papers / reviews will be published in the peer reviewed research journal of ISSA – ‘Social Science Gazetteer’ Volume 20 (1) scheduled for publication in the month of July 2025.
