Call for papers of «Pagine Giovani», bi-annual scientific journal of youth literature, founded in 1977 and currently published by Anicia editions (see also the website www.pagine-giovani.it), for a monographic insert on the topic: Children’s and youth literature and sport
About the Theme
Sport is a recurring presence in youth literature: both in short stories and novels, in comics and graphic novels, and in children’s periodicals – which frequently dedicate pages to sports champions and sporting events -, and in popular books and, not least, in cartoons. Today, on a global level, we are witnessing a renewed interest in sport, linked to the many ongoing events, which has been also translated into literary works, narrative and otherwise, for childhood and adolescence.
Therefore, in- depth research on the topic is not inappropriate, also in reference to the disappearance of the Hegelian cosmic-historical individuals and the decline of traditional literary, comics and film heroes.
We are looking for submission addressing the following matters (not limited to):
- Sport in today’s literature for children and adolescents
- Female sport in today’s literature for children and adolescents
- Sport and disability
- Sport in the years of «Il Vittorioso»
- Gino Bartali, model Christian champion in the pages of «Il Vittorioso»
- Sport in the «Corriere dei Piccoli»
- Sport in the comics of yesterday and today
- Sport in graphic novels
- Sport in today’s children’s periodical press
- Sport in nippocartoon
- Sport in songs
- Online sports journalism for pre-adolescents and teenagers
- The male and female biographies of sport champions
- A survey of the young generations’ favorite sports champions
- The most represented sporting activities in today’s children’s literature
- Sports more represented by children’s books of the second half of the last century
- The new heroes of sport, a model for young readers
- Old and new myths of literature and sport
- The new heroes of sport: socio-psycho-pedagogical problems
- Are the educational values of sport adequately highlighted in today’s writing for the developmental age?
