he Most Reverend Bishop Jerome M. Fernandez, the first native prelate of the Diocese of Quilon, was a distinguished ecclesiastical leader and social reformer whose visionary initiatives profoundly impacted marginalized communities, particularly Roman Catholics of the Latin Rite. His steadfast conviction in the transformative potential of education as a catalyst for empowerment, societal progress, and cultural renaissance led to the establishment of Fatima Mata National College in 1951. His enduring commitment to the institution’s development is emblematic of his far-sightedness and altruistic dedication to the broader cause of social upliftment.
Since its inception in 1968, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Fatima Mata National College has played an instrumental role in advancing the academic mission of the institution. The PTA has been pivotal in fostering the intellectual growth of students, strengthening the institution’s academic ethos, and contributing to its reputation for excellence.
The Bishop Jerome Memorial Inter-College Paper Presentation was conceived to honor the monumental legacy of Bishop Jerome M. Fernandez. This esteemed event provides an academic forum for Postgraduate and Undergraduate students from across India to showcase their scholarly acumen. By fostering critical inquiry and intellectual discourse, the competition seeks to uphold the ideals of academic rigour and thoughtful involvement that Bishop Jerome so ardently championed.
We extend our cordial invitation to you to participate in this academic endeavor and join us in commemorating the unparalleled legacy of Bishop Jerome M. Fernandez.
