India has the second-largest road network in the world spanning over 5.89 crore km. National Highways constitute over 1.30 lakh km of length spread across the length and breadth of the country. They connect villages with cities, the distant with the near, and the hinterland with urban markets. They are the arteries of New India.

- Certificates of merit will also be awarded to prize-winning photographers.
- 1st Prize – Rs. 50,000
- 2nd Prize – Rs. 30,000
- 3rd Prize – Rs. 20,000
- 10 consolation Prizes – Rs. 10,000/- each
NHAI has organized a Digital Photography Contest on the theme of “National Highways through the Eyes of the Camera” as part of Azadika ka Amrit Mahotsav. Using the medium of photography, the idea is to capture, promote and present multi faceted images of the National Highways in India and also, apart from getting a host of photographs of the National Highways from all part of the country, to spread the message of connectivity and easy access through implementation of the unprecedented highway infrastructure projects of National Highways Development Project and Bharatmala Pariyojana. The purpose also includes to encourage the professional and amateur photographers across the country.
Award Categories
There are two categories of the awards
Professional Photographer – Definition of Professional photographer: A person whose main source of livelihood is from photography (working in the capacity of individual photographer or in a Photo Section, Newspapers, News agencies, Studios, teaching photography & communication or individual agencies or any form of major source of revenue through photography) is considered to be “Professional Photographer”.
Amateur Photographer – Definition of Amateur photographer: A Photographer who does photography as a hobby, for creative urge, but her/his major source of revenue should be from some other means is considered as “Amateur Photographer”.
