Concept Note:

The indigenous communities, long marginalised
and exploited, have in recent years come to the
forefront of socio-political discussions. This
webinar aims to explore the complexity of
Indigenous cultures across the world as well as
the traditional and contemporary expressions
of culture of the Indigenous, the richness of
Indigenous expressions and the very culture of
storytelling itself.

It hopes to generate awareness and discussion
of their recent struggles for recognition,
including the processes of cultural and
linguistic revitalization and how the indigenous
reaffirm their Identity through narratives of
different types – literary, folk, visual and

Abstracts (200 words) for paper presentations
relating to the following themes are invited
from students, scholars and academics:

  • Translating the indigenous narrative
