About Kerala Science Congress

The Kerala Science Congress (KSC) is an annual gathering of scientists and
technologists organized by the visionaries of the erstwhile Science
Technology & Environment Committee (STEC), way back in 1989. The
Science Congress intended to inculcate scientific temper in the young
minds of Kerala besides providing a platform to the Scientists and
Technologists to debate, discuss and disseminate scientific ideas for the
promotion and practice of Science and Technology for the benefit of the
State. From a modest beginning, Kerala Science Congress has now grown
into a large gathering of science fraternity of the State attracting more
than 1500 delegates in the recent editions of KSC. The event consists of
discussions and deliberations on an identified focal theme of
contemporary importance to the State, technical sessions involving
presentation of research findings by young researchers, post-graduate
student interaction session and the Children’s Science Congress. Talented
young researchers are honored with the ‘Kerala State Young Scientist
Award’ during this event.

Focal Theme:

Since the focus of the Science Congress is always linked to contemporary
issues, the 33rd edition of the Kerala Science Congress will address the
unprecedented multi-sectoral issue of pandemic that has impacted our
health and the economic activities of the country. The Focal theme
of 33rd Kerala Science Congress is “Pandemics: Risks, Impacts & Mitigation”

Technical Session and Subject Areas:

The 33rd Kerala Science Congress invites Papers and Posters in the following 12 subject areas. Papers submitted in the subject areas also should attempt directly or indirectly for addressing the focal theme of the event. Papers with such inputs shall be given preference for acceptance

  • Earth and Planetary Sciences,
  • Engineering & Technology,
  • Environmental Sciences, Forestry &Wildlife,
  • Fisheries & Veterinary Sciences,
  • Health Sciences,
  • Life Sciences,
  • Mathematical & Statistical Sciences,
  • Physical Sciences,
  • Scientific Social Responsibility

Children’s Science Congress:

KSC will have a dedicated session wherein post graduate students get an opportunity to interact with eminent scientists in the field. PG students are invited to register for participating the event.

PG Students Interactive Session:

State level winners of National Children’s Science Congress will present their work at the 33rd Kerala Science Congress. Students from schools studying in class 7 to 12 are invited to witness the Children’s Science Congress session on the virtual platform.

Best Oral and Poster Presentation Awards are invited under one of the following four categories:

(a) Best Student’s Oral presentation Award

(b) Best Scientist’s Oral presentation Award

(c) Best Student’s Poster presentation Award

(d) Best Scientist’s Poster presentation Award.

The award carries a Certificate of Merit

Proceedings of the Congress :

Abstracts of accepted papers shall be uploaded to the Science Congress website as Proceedings of 33rd KSC which can be downloaded after the proceedings are officially released.
Language: Official language of Kerala Science Congress will be English. All paper submissions should be in English. However, contributors are free to present their paper in English or Malayalam in the subject area

Delegates – Rs. 500/-
Bonafide Students: Rs. 100/-

  • Last date for registration and submission of Abstracts and full paper for contributors : 24th December 2020
  • Last date for registration for participation, Post-Graduate Students Interactive Session & Children Science Congress: 15th January 2021
  • Last date for communication of acceptance of papers: 15th January 2021
