Theme of the Seminar

Belonging to the Indo-European Family of languages, Sanskrit provides one of the earliest and richest treasure vaults of ancient texts. Wilhelm Grenfell Max Müller, the German orientalist and Indologist, believed that the ancient documents of the Vedic period should be re-read for understanding the importance of pagan European religions. Not only religions, Sanskrit texts have covered erudite analysis in the fields of philosophy, poetics, politics, economics, sociology, and even science, technology and physiology. Sanskrit texts are available for numerous sciences like astronomy, aeronautics, dietetics,
architecture, chemistry, pharmacology etc. in which intensive and extensive researches are required. Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, opined, “Our culture, literature and life are incomplete as long as our scholars, thinkers and educators are ignorant of Sanskrit.” Even the New Education Policy (NEP) has envisioned an enormous possibility of enriching Indian education through proper promotion of the treasures inherent in our ancient Sanskrit texts. With such tremendous future possibility of enriching Indian academics, the organizers of the said National Seminar fervently hope that it would enrich the august audience with erudite presentation and inspire them for re-reading and further exploration of Indian traditional Sanskrit texts.
