About INFLIBNET
The Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre is an autonomous Inter-University Centre (IUC) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) located in the Infocity, Gandhinagar. Major activities and services of the Centre are geared towards modernization of academic libraries and information centres, promotion of information transfer and access, support scholarship, learning and academic pursuits. The Centre acts as a nodal agency for networking of libraries and information centres in universities, institutions of higher learning and R & D institutions in India. The Centre was established as an independent autonomous Inter-University Centre of the UGC in May 1996 and set out to be a major player for promoting scholarly communication among academicians and researchers across the country. With technology being a driving force in the contemporary education system, the INFLIBNET Centre has taken up a number of initiatives for the benefit of the academic community in India.
About Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT)
Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpur is one of 31 National Institutes of Technology in India. It received Deemed to be University status on June 26, 2002, and was designated an Institute of National Importance on August 15, 2007. Originally established as Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering (VRCE) in 1960, VNIT was formed through a collaboration between the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra, merging with an earlier state engineering college. In 1962, it was renamed to honor Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The institute’s primary goal has been to provide quality technical education and foster national integration. VNIT initially operated at the Government Polytechnic in Sadar, Nagpur, before relocating to its current 214-acre campus.
