Concept Notes

The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), which was approved by the Union Cabinet of India on 29 July 2020, outlines the vision of new education system of India. The new policy replaces the previous National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986. The policy is a comprehensive framework for elementary education to higher education as well as vocational training in both rural and urban India. The NEP 2020 is mainly student-centric in order to set a new framework and shape the education system and the student’s education, aspirations and quality of life.

The FDP will be conducted online through MS Teams for one week. The FDP is being organized with the main objective to familiarize and deliberate on the new reforms in the higher education system promulgated by NEP. This FDP will give a new direction to all stakeholders in the education system of India to identify and bring forth the proactive implementation of the reforms promulgated in the NEP 2020 for higher education.

THEMES OF FDP

NEP-2020 is very vast spanning from elementary school education to higher education and vocational education as well. The main focus of this FDP will be on Higher Education. Major themes that will be deliberated upon during this FDP shall encompass

  • Principles and Approach to the Implementation of the NEP 2020 for Reforms in Higher Education.
  • Holistic and Multidisciplinary Education
  • Professional Development and Capacity Building of Teachers Quality Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Internationalization of Higher Education Digital Empowerment and Online Education
  • Vocationalization in Higher Education
  • Revival and Promotion of Indian Knowledge Systems
  • Effective Governance & Regulatory Reforms

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

After the completion of this program, participants will be equipped with new reforms in the higher education system promulgated by NEP 2020. This will enable the participants to formulate strategies for the integration of NEP 2020 into the existing educational framework by rebuilding their teaching pedagogy and research techniques.
