Register Now: Young Graduate Meet on Spatial Transformations and Contestations in South Asia

Organizer: School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Mandi

About the Graduate Meet

  • When: 10-12 October 2023

Spaces have always been produced, contested, reproduced, and transformed. The multiplicity of spaces surrounding us are not just indispensable to our existence as individuals but also influence the everydayness of communities. Thus, it becomes imperative to acknowledge the existence of all kinds of spaces and the narratives which define them. At the same time, one also needs to make space for spaces which are unknown, as of now. This constant turmoil over space and time gives rise to the opening up of newer spaces and increasing acceptance towards the other. At a time, when all kinds of political, social, economic, historical, psychological, and literary spaces are being contested across the South Asian region, talking about these conflicts can lead to understanding the root causes behind these collective maladies. We aim to transgress the borders imposed by territorial boundaries and look beyond them to understand the region as a whole, by problematizing the existing understanding of space. The everyday changing dynamics of the region needs to be taken into account to gauge a sense of spatial transformations and
contestations.

We invite scholars and academicians from all over the country to present their work based on the given sub themes, but not limited to:
