About the Conference

  • When: 5th & 6th August 2022

There is a note of optimism floating across the world that the pandemic is, at last, becoming endemic. The last two years have been surreal, debilitating, and exhausting, to say the least. We hope that the worst is past us, and the tired planet can breathe a sigh of relief. As always, in times of crisis, we fall back upon culture, to elude the pervading despair, to seek solace and fortitude. Swami Vivekananda says “It is a culture that withstands shocks, not a simple mass of knowledge.” Carrying forward this strain (pun intended!) of optimism, we are organizing a conference on Post Pandemic Perspectives: Reflections and Realities. This conference intends to explore the cultural trends that have emanated from the crisis, and engage in literary discussions and debates as we gradually move towards a post-pandemic world. The world is akin to a phoenix rising out of the ashes and moving towards a new dawn of infinite possibilities. We intend to foreground this
theme of revival and reconstruction in the spheres of literature, media, economics, and sociology. What are the epistemological ruptures and theoretical interventions that have become ostensible? How can we envision feasible futurities? The conference would reflect upon the cataclysmic event and how the global consequences and socio-political realities have been refracted through cultural expressions.
