Constitutional Morality being the innate voice of the Constitution has acquired new dimension in
recent times. Though the Constitution has not come overtly on it barring few references by the
Constituent Assembly, judicial interpretations have brought the constitutional morality debate back
to discourse and a judicial settlement over its conceptual validation is on the anvil. Often referred as a litmus test for the legitimacy of an elected government, the concept has been discussed with a tone of discontent in the context of recent political developments. Being a parliamentary democracy, the adherence to constitutional morality is expected to be equally binding on the government, the opposition and the common populace. But on ground, its observances are often felt varying subject to the power positions they hold. The two day national webinar on ‘Reflections on Constitutional Morality in India: Past, Present and Future’ will deliberate over different responses to the idea of constitutional morality in the Indian context. You are invited to participate in the deliberations online. Kindly Use the links below for registration and participation.
