Growth in career of teachers largely depends on the professional development practices that improve knowledge in teaching and research. This demands specialized training in teaching and research. Therefore, it is important for teachers to strike a balance between teaching and research for a well-balanced professional growth. This requires a collaborative effort between major stakeholders of education such as curriculum developers, materials designers, teachers, learners and administerial personnel. In this collaborative effort, the teacher has to assume multiple roles and should take up the responsibility of translating professional and practical knowledge into research. In this context, this faculty development programme aims to address the issues that every teacher, researcher and language trainer encounters in the professional environment. The programme will also enable teachers and researchers to develop competence that would help them face challenges in their career. The FDP is being conducted in two phases: Pedagogical Practices (Phase-I) and Researching and Publishing (Phase-II).
