Background and Objective:
Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Hyderabad is organizing a two-week capacity-building workshop sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research Institute (ICSSR), New Delhi. The workshop mainly targets the social science faculty members, who teach Economics. The main aim of the program is to provide exposure to these faculty members to the latest advances in the subject, to get acquainted with the scientific tools and techniques to conduct research, and bring excellence to their works. This capacity-building program has three important dimensions: improving teaching skills, understanding the advancements in theory and empirics, and developing research capabilities. We give utmost preference to faculty members in their early careers and young professionals. Through this program, we help them to get familiarized with the quality research and methodological approaches for the teaching-learning process.
The course will encompass lectures spanning five main contents- Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, International trade, and Current debates on the Indian economy. Apart from the theoretical teaching-learning process, the course will also focus on empirical studies based on the respective topics. Moreover, the training program also aims to provide classes on quantitative techniques from basics to advanced levels through various expert lectures and hands-on sessions.
