About the Recruitment
- Location: Bengaluru Campus
- Bhopal Campus
- Engagement: Full-time
The undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the University aims to integrate academic study with learning outside the curriculum and overall well-being of students. One of the best ways to do this in a diverse setup is to foster meaningful relationships and high levels of engagement between students and all members of the University community.
The role of the Resident Mentor team is to create these opportunities for students to have meaningful relationships with other students and University members outside of the academic set-up. The resident mentor team ensures that residential life is vibrant and active and helps build a diverse and inclusive campus community. This is done through structured initiatives within the University and unstructured interactions that are run by the Resident Mentor team.
The role of a Resident Mentor is a unique one developed in the University and is largely based on fundamental principles of positive engagement and care ethics. The Resident Mentors on campus are proactively engaged rather than only reacting to student and campus needs.
Responsibilities:
- Being a resident on campus. Resident mentors are required to stay at the student residences. Accommodation is provided at the residences.
- Operations — Coordination of provision and supervision of basic facilities for students — physical infrastructure, food and nutrition, health and fitness, and safety. We don’t see these areas merely as transactions but as opportunities to sensitize students to the realities of life.
- Community engagement — Being a part of and driving initiatives in the campus community which includes students, faculty and staff.
- Positive engagement — Engaging proactively with the student community and creating a variety of structured and unstructured opportunities for student learning and growth. The structured interactions can be academic/non-academic roles within the University.
- Emergency response — The Resident Mentor is expected to help with emergency response and coordinate with other functions.
The Resident Mentor role is a dual role that is envisaged along with an added role linked to other academic or administrative roles.
