CeMIS PhD Fellowship in Development Economics Centre for Modern Indian Studies University of Göttingen

The research group “Development Economics” at the Center for Modern Indian Studies (CeMIS) at the University of Göttingen invites applications for one or more fellowships to pursue a three- year PhD degree beginning in October 2024. The fellowship may be extended for an additional year depending on the progress of the PhD candidate.

The fellowship is open to candidates with an interest in India and the interdisciplinary research environment at CeMIS. Interdisciplinary research topics that are suitable for co-supervision with other faculty members at CeMIS are particularly encouraged (but not required). This fellowship seeks to address the highly unequal access to education facing students in India. The fellowship will therefore fund a student from a marginalized background who has a commitment to social change. Students who do not qualify for this fellowship but are nevertheless interested in our research group can apply for another PhD fellowship that is simultaneously advertised.

To be eligible to apply, candidates must have a master’s degree in development economics, global health or any other related field.

Applicants must provide the following materials:

  1. A cover sheet with your name, your date of birth and your contact details.
