We are looking to hire one Research Associate for the research project titled ‘Understanding the Sociology of Declining Rural Female Labour Force Participation Rates in India’ led by Dr. Soundarya Iyer, RV University, Bangalore and Prof. Nitya Rao, University of East Anglia, UK. Funded by the Azim Premji University Research Funding Programme 2019, this project aims to build grounded field based research in rural Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to understand changes in women’s work. Using qualitative approaches, we seek to better understand the generational changes in women’s work in rural contexts. We place this exploration in the context of changes in gender relations driven both by changing employment opportunities and state welfare provisioning.
Research Associate (You will be affiliated to the French Institute of Pondicherry, Pondicherry)
- Location: Bangalore
- Duration: 6 months. Availability to start by August 2022.
Reporting to: Dr. Soundarya lyer
Masters in a social science discipline (Development studies, Sociology, Gender studies). Prior experience working in research projects is desirable.
Working with Principal Investigators of the project towards qualitative data coding and writing towards academic and non-academic outputs. The candidate should be able to multi-task and meet deadlines.
