Apply Now: Policy Intern at ATREE

Centre for Policy Design (CPD), ATREE is looking for a Policy Intern to provide research assistance for a study related to livelihoods and biodiversity conservation in the semi-arid Open Natural Ecosystems (ONE) in India. The individual will contribute to the analysis of government policies and programs across various sectors (including, land governance, livelihoods and conservation) relevant to the management of semi-arid ONEs. The individual will be responsible for reviewing policy and legislative documents, and capturing and structuring relevant data and interlinkages for further analyses.

  • This is a paid opportunity and the stipend will be discussed with the candidate prior to confirming the internship.

  • Duration: 4-6 weeks (extendable based on mutual agreement) 

Qualifications

  • Post-graduation (completed or ongoing) in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Law, Development Studies, Environmental Science or related disciplines. 4th and 5th year students of undergraduate law programs can apply. 
  • Familiarity with reviewing policy and government documents while paying close attention to detail.
  • Trained in qualitative research methods, such as content analysis.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency.
  • Be a self-motivated, results-driven team player who can commit to deadlines and is passionate to work in the field of environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct desktop research to identify relevant policy and legislative documents
  • Review these documents to collate relevant information in a structured form
  • Identify and analyse interlinkages between relevant policies, schemes and laws
  • Engage with team members on the research design for further analyses based on the above work
