Project Description: The Mahatma Gandhi University is embarking on a research project titled “Understanding Brain Drain
in Higher Education: Kerala’s Case – Causes, Consequences, and Legal Implications,” funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). The project aims to comprehensively investigate the phenomenon of brain drain in the context of higher education in Kerala, analysing its underlying causes, its socio-economic and legal consequences, and proposing policy recommendations to address this issue.

- Research Assistant: 01 (Full Time)
- Field Investigators: 01 (Full Time)
Remuneration:
- Research Assistant: 37,000/-
- Field Investigator: 20,000/
Employment Duration:
Research Assistant: 01 (June 01ST, 2024 to August 01st,2024) (Preferably Extendable)
Field Investigators: 01 (May 01, ST, 2024 to November 01, st,2024)
Job Responsibilities
Research Assistant
- Conducting literature reviews and synthesizing existing research on brain drain in higher education.
- Designing research methodologies, collecting and analyzing data, and writing research reports.
- Coordinating with project team members and stakeholders.
- Contributing to the dissemination of research findings through publications and presentations.
Field Investigators:
- Conducting field surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions with relevant stakeholders
- Collecting qualitative and quantitative data related to brain drain in higher education.
- Assisting in data entry, data cleaning, and preliminary analysis
- Collaborating with the research team to ensure the smooth implementation of fieldwork activities
Qualifications and Requirements:
Research Assistant:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Humanities, Law, Education or related fields with 55%.
- Strong research skills, including experience in conducting qualitative and/or quantitative research.
- Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, NVivo) and qualitative analysis techniques.
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Prior Experience in Research, especially with respect to the concerned Research Area of this Project will be Considered.
Field Investigators:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Humanities, Law, Education or related fields.
- Prior experience in conducting fieldwork or surveys is desirable but not mandatory.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Fluency in Malayalam and English languages.
- Willingness to travel within Kerala for data collection purposes.
- Prior Experience in Research, especially with respect to the concerned Research Area of this Project will be Considered.
