The Research Scholars of the School of International Relations and Strategic Studies at Jadavpur University is pleased to announce a two-day symposium focusing on the influence of Bollywood on international relations. Titled “Bollywood through the Lens of International Relations,” this symposium aims to explore the intricate connections between Bollywood cinema and global politics, cultural diplomacy, and cross-cultural understanding.
About the Symposium
- When: 13 May, 2024
Objectives: We invite students, scholars, researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts to submit
papers that explore the following themes:
- Portrayal of geopolitical themes such as identity, diaspora, and globalization in Bollywood cinema.
- Role of Bollywood as a cultural ambassador and its contribution to India’s soft power and diplomacy on the global stage.
- Reception and impact of Bollywood films in different regions of the world and their implications for intercultural dialogue and cultural diplomacy.
- Influence of Bollywood stars, particularly iconic figures like Shah Rukh Khan, on shaping perceptions of India abroad and promoting cross-cultural understanding
Submission Guidelines
- Abstracts should be between 250-300 words and clearly outline the objectives, methodology, and key findings of the proposed paper.
- Papers should be original contributions and not previously published or under consideration elsewhere.
- Submissions should follow APA style.
- Please include a brief biography (100 words) highlighting your affiliation, research interests, and relevant publications.
