The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) invites research project proposals from Indian scholars, researchers, and academicians under its Major and Minor Research Projects Scheme for the Financial Year 2026–2027.

  • Applications will be accepted only through the online portal
  • Applicants are not required to send a hard copy of the application or any supporting documents to ICSSR

Note: Research proposals must be prepared strictly in the prescribed format provided in the online application form, and no separate proposal document should be uploaded.

How to Apply

  • Applicants shall submit their applications online, along with the research proposal, annexures, and all other requisite documents in the prescribed format, duly forwarded by the competent authority of the affiliating institution. Hard copies of the application shall not be accepted, and only online applications shall be considered.
  • Research proposals shall be submitted either in English or Hindi. Proposals in English shall be prepared using Times New Roman font, while proposals in Hindi shall be prepared using Arial Unicode MS or Mangal Unicode (Devanagari) font.
  • The proposal shall be typed in 12-point font size with single (1.0) line spacing.
  • Applicants shall strictly adhere to the prescribed word limits, formatting requirements, and other instructions specified in the application form and the Scheme Guidelines.

  • Minor Project 12 months: Up to ₹15.00 lakh
  • Major Project 24 months: Up to ₹30.00 lakh

Call for Applications for the International Training of Trainers (ToT) Programme

The programme is designed to strengthen knowledge, practical skills and international cooperation in the management, conservation, documentation and communication of Cultural Heritage across the Mediterranean region.

Details of the programme

  • The programme combines: 40 hours of online training delivered in English by international experts
  • Practical activities focused on the development of Management and Communication Plans for selected heritage pilot sites
  • An international workshop in Jordan for selected participants in early 2027
  • Applications are open until 31 August 2026.
  • Language and Accessibility: Lessons are conducted in English. To ensure wider accessibility, recorded sessions include subtitles in Italian, Arabic, French, and Spanish.

Programme Overview

  • Target Group: Managers, heritage professionals, researchers, and university professors.
  • Format: A blended learning model consisting of 40 hours of online training and an international workshop in Jordan.
  • Duration: Online sessions run from September 2026 to November 2026, with an international workshop planned for early 2027.
  • Certification: Participants receive an attendance certificate upon successfully completing the final assessment and achieving at least 70% attendance.
  • Costs: Travel and accommodation for the workshop are covered by the DIEM Project.

The DIEM Project

Developing Inclusive Education in the Mediterranean, a partnership of seven organizations from Italy, Spain, Jordan, Spain, Tunisia, Egypt, and Palestine, implemented with the financial support of the European Union (EU) under the Interreg NEXT MED Program, is pleased to invite applications for its International Training of Trainers (ToT) Program.

The program aims to strengthen the capacities of professionals working in the cultural heritage sector by providing high-quality international training in heritage management, conservation, valorization, digital innovation, and community engagement.

Selected participants will become members of Group A of the DIEM Cascade Training Model and will play a key role in transferring the knowledge and skills acquired during the program to other professionals and local stakeholders.

The Training Programme

The Group A Training Program is structured into three progressive phases, combining online learning with practical collaboration and international exchange.

  • Phase 1 – Theoretical Online Training (20 Hours): Mid-September to Mid-October 2026

Participants will attend expert-led online lectures delivered in English by international specialists, covering key topics in cultural heritage management, conservation, documentation, governance, and best practices. All lectures will be recorded and made available on the DIEM digital platform with subtitles in partner languages.

  • Phase 2 – Applied Online Training (20 Hours): Mid-October to Mid-December 2026

Participants will take part in interactive online sessions focused on the development of Management and Communication Plans for cultural heritage pilot sites. This phase includes practical exercises, case studies, and concludes with a short online assessment required for obtaining the program Micro-credential (Open Badge format, subject to Sapienza University of Rome approval).

  • Phase 3 – International Workshop in Jordan (4–5 Days): First Quarter of 2027

Selected participants will join an intensive in-person workshop in Jordan, where they will collaborate with project experts and partners to develop draft Management and Communication Plans for pilot sites and contribute to the design of the Group C Training Toolkit.

The Indian Association for Social Sciences and Health (IASSH) is a professional association of social scientists with more than 1300 life members (www.iassh.org). IASSH is happy to announce the competition for “Prof. K. Mahadevan Award for Best Publication” authored by young researchers on field-based research. Prof. Mahadevan was a renowned anthropologist, demographer and author of many books and publications. He was the Head of the Department of opulation Studies at Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati and mentored a good number of Indian Demographers. To encourage field-based research, academic scholarship and scientific publications in social sciences and health studies, we invite applications from young researchers to submit their published journal articles for the consideration of the award

Eligibility Criteria

  • 1. The applicant should be an Indian Citizen and currently doing Ph.D. or working in an Indian institution/university.
  • 2. The paper should be fully based on field-based research conducted by the author/s.
  • 3. Applicant should be below 35 years of age as on 1
  • st January 2026 (for women, the age limit is 38 years).
  • 4. The paper submitted for consideration of award should be published in a refereed academic journal in the year 2025.
  • 5. The applicant should be the single author / first author of the published paper.
  • 6. The paper should broadly be dealing with social sciences and health issues.

Submission Process

The young researchers may submit the applications to the IASSH secretariat (Email: iassh2004@gmail.com) by 15thAugust 2026 by sending their Curriculum Vitae, Published Article and Date of Birth Certificate.

The winner of the award will be announced on our website in September 2026 (www.iassh.org) and will be invited to receive the award in the next Annual Conference of the IASSH.

As these courses will be taught across a number of affiliated undergraduate colleges of the university, the workshop seeks to promote a common understanding of their scope, objectives, and expected learning outcomes, thereby helping to maintain uniformity in curriculum delivery and academic standards across institutions.

The workshop aims to provide an overview of the structure, scope, and academic rationale of the newly introduced courses rather than a detailed treatment of their entire syllabi. Particular emphasis will be given on discussing the underlying motivation of the courses, their intended learning outcomes, and effective pedagogical approaches for their classroom delivery. Through lectures and discussions, participants will gain insights into the key concepts, recommended teaching methodologies, and assessment perspectives associated with the courses. The workshop will thus serve as a platform for sharing ideas and developing a coherent approach to teaching the new curriculum across colleges.
