About the Movement
- The objective of the same is to initiate a massive plantation drive in-line with One Student One Tree
Mission LiFE can become a mass movement of Environmental Conscious Lifestyle. What is needed today is Mindful and Deliberate Utilisation, instead of Mindless and Destructive Consumption. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi introduces Mission LiFE to the world at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow.
“I pledge to support and participate in tree-planting initiatives to contribute to the preservation and restoration of our planet’s ecosystems.”
About the Scheme
“LiFE” is an India-led global mass movement to protect and preserve the environment. It aims to nudge individuals and communities to practice a lifestyle that is synchronous with nature and does not harm it. As one step further, “MeriLiFE” Mission of Dept. of Higher Education, Ministry of Education was launched on the occasion of “World Environment Day” 5th June, 2023.
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has launched MeriLiFE movement as a key to combating climate change and promote plantation. Under this mission, target of “One crore” Tree Plantation has been taken by AICTE. Hence, AICTE requests all students, faculty and staff members of its approved Institutions to plant at least one tree having suitable utility in the respective region. The name of the Tree may be given on the name of person who planted that tree.
The tree plantation drive may be planned considering horticultural landscaping of the institute aiming to plant maximum number of trees and plants, wherever possible for example along boundary walls/roads/tracks, in empty spaces which are not to be used for any other purpose.
As an incentive for carrying out plantation, students/ faculty/ staff members will be recognised as Pro Planet People. Students may be awarded 20 “AICTE Activity Points,’ as defined in chapter 6 of AICTE Internship Policy’. In addition, top 100 Institutes with maximum number of tree planted will be awarded with “Certificate of Appreciation” by AICTE.
