We are seeking applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the field of “Hydrogen Storage in 20 materials: Density Functional Theory Simulations”. The primary objectives of this position include publishing research articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals.


  • M.Sc. in Chemistry/Physics/ Materials Science/Nanotechnology or a relevant discipline
  • Candidates must have obtained their degrees with a first-class
  • Candidates with a computational background or a track record of quality publications will be given preference
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC NET (JRF/LS) or GATE
  • Ability to work closely and collaborate with colleagues is essential

SALARY: The stipend will be as per the norms of the Institute. The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students.

DURATION: Initial appointment for one year, with the possibility of extension up to 2 years based on performance.


The work involves Density Functional Theory simulations to design 20 Nanomaterials promising for hydrogen storage. Adsorption energy of hydrogen molecules, gravimetric weight percentage, interactions of H, molecules, stability of the systems need to be computed through sophisticated quantum simulations. Dispersion corrections need to be implemented in DFT simulations. Charge transfer, orbital interactions and other electronic properties need to be investigated.
