Description of the Role

Pratham International, through its subsidiary PULS, is looking to hire a Content and Training Associate for the French language. The role will support adaptation of Pratham’s innovations for French-speaking contexts and programs, both for existing and new international partnerships.

Specifically, the Associate will engage in content development and capacity-building efforts for governments and other partners to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy outcomes at scale. To this end, the Associate will need to develop a deep understanding of the TaRL approach (and other innovations as needed) with guidance from the team and through field practice. The Associate will be hired to work with the Content & Training vertical within the team and will be expected to work through a highly collaborative attitude with other verticals including Monitoring & Measurement and Program Support. The role also requires flexibility to frequently travel to low- and middle-income countries, including emergency contexts, to pilot resources, review implementation, conduct training(s), and provide on-site capacity-building support.

The Content Associate will support:

  • Content development for instructional material for children across both literacy and numeracy
  • Piloting instructional materials by working with children in the classroom
  • Alignment of content across both numeracy and literacy
  • Contextualization of content by working with the support of instructors, local NGOs, and government partners to base on the needs of the target age groups and geographies;
  • Textbook analysis for primary grades
  • Tracking and documentation of innovative teaching practices across projects
  • NGO partners, governments, etc. in the design and delivery of training of instructors, trainers, mentors, etc. for programs
  • Capacity-building exercises of instructors, mentors, etc. on data interpretations, lesson planning, etc.
  • Preparation of technical reports for the programs
  • Translation of communication and training collaterals in specific languages as needed
  • Translation for meetings and events on an ongoing basis
  • Management of key relationships with stakeholders as and when needed
  • Other related tasks as needed.

Preferred Qualification, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree equivalent or above in French language
  • A minimum of (4) four years of experience working with the French language including teaching
  • Desirable: Experience working in the education or development sector more broadly
  • Working knowledge of designing curriculum, textbook analysis, instructional practices, and assessments
  • Excellent (fluent) oral and written communication skills in French
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, etc.
  • Experience working across countries’ cultural contexts
