The Central Library, IIT Delhi, is looking for young, enthusiastic, and dynamic fresh post-graduates in Library and Information Sciences with a consistently good academic record to serve as Library Interns purely on a temporary basis for one year. Persons with good communication and interpersonal skills and enthusiasm to learn new skills and deliver services using emerging tools and technologies will be preferred.

- Qualification: Passed MLIS/Equivalent with First Division in the year 2022 or 2023
Essential Qualifications: Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent with First Division. The applicant must have passed MLIS or equivalent examination either in the year 2022 or 2023 only. However, those candidates expecting their MLIS or equivalent examination’s final marksheet by the day of the Interview may also apply. Candidates who passed the MLIS or equivalent examination before the year 2022 need not apply.
Remuneration: Consolidated stipend of Rs. 26,000/- per month.
Duration: The internship will be offered purely on a temporary basis for a maximum period of One Year, subject to satisfactory performance of Six months. The certificate of the internship will be provided to only those who will complete atleast Six months as Library Interns
Termination of Services: Services are liable to terminate with one month’s notice in writing given by either side.
- The Intern is required to work six days a week and can avail upto Eight Casual Leaves in a year.
- Selected candidates shall not have any claim on regular positions.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the Interview. There is no provision for Institute Accommodation for the Library Interns.
- However, the Central Library helps in settling down in the attached campus areas like Katwaria Sarai, Ber Sarai, Jia Sarai, etc., where sufficient independent and shared accommodation is available for males and females.
- Selected interns will be required to do shift duty and holiday duties on a rotation basis.
Age Limit: Not exceeding 27 years as on November 06, 2023 (the last date to submit application).
Nature of Internship: Interns will be provided with an opportunity to work in different sections of the
Central Library or Unit libraries and to learn the modern library management techniques and web-
based services in a “Learn while you are Doing the Work” mode.

In case the result is awaited for the MLIS examination, the BLIS marksheet should be uploaded. Candidates are required to submit a hard copy of the duly filled and signed application form, along with a self-attested copy of supporting documents to “The Librarian, Central Library, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Hauz Khas, New Delhi-110 016” on or before November 14, 2023 (05:00 pm) through Speed post or by Hand. IIT Delhi will not be responsible for any postal delays. Application, incomplete in any respect and without relevant documents as desired, will be rejected.
