Job Description
We are looking to hire 1 Research Associate to work with ATREE Fellows within the Sustainable Agro-ecosystems research programme. The person would be involved in research to better understand current approaches towards advancing sustainable agricultural land use in India and to identify intervention points for action, consistent with state, national and international policies and commitments.
About the Programme
- Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension)
- Place of work: Bengaluru preferred
- Name of the position: Research Associate (full-time)
- Consolidated salary: INR 45,000 per month.
- Date of interview: First week of January 2024.
- Position start date: 15 January 2024 / 1 February 2024.
The position is ideally suited for someone who is:
- Comfortable with gathering and analyzing large amounts of information from academic and grey literature (scientific papers, policy reports, sustainability reports etc.).
- Looking to build networks among the scientific community working on sustainable agricultural land use.
- Comfortable with desk-based work focused on exploratory research.
- Eager to explore new ways towards evidence synthesis in an emerging area of research and action in India.
Qualifications: Preferably a Master’s degree (Agriculture, environmental science, social science, natural resource management, and climate change), with some previous work experience within the land use sector in India.
Experience, or particular interest, in reviewing diverse literature to identify knowledge gaps and opportunities for action.
Experience, or particular interest, in web scraping to gather information on public and private efforts towards sustainable agricultural land use in India.
Ability to be absolutely methodical in approach, to lead structured and semi-structured conversations both within and outside ATREE, and to document each step of the process.
Ability, or particular interest, in presenting gathered information in a compelling manner and across formats: reports, infographics, maps.
