Call for Applications: 25 JRF Positions are Open at Indian Institute of Geomagnetis

Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (IIG) is an autonomous research institute under Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India engaged in frontline research in Geomagnetism and Allied Fields. The Institute has state-of-the-art experimental and high performing computing facilities to conduct cutting edge research. The Institute is currently offering Doctoral Programme in Geomagnetism and Allied Fields pertinent to studies of Solid Earth, Space Weather, Upper Atmospheric / Ionospheric Physics and Space Plasma Physics.

Scholarship & Tenure: Tenure and fellowship/stipend to the JRF/SRF are as per prevailing CSIR/UGC guidelines.

Eligibility: (a) M.Sc./M.Sc. (Tech.) in the disciplines of Physics/Geophysics/Space Physics/Applied Geology & Applied Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks throughout or equivalent CGPA grade and Physics or Mathematics as a subject in B.Sc./graduation level.
Those appearing for Master’s degree final year examination during the year 2023 in the above subjects may also apply. However, if selected, they should be able to produce the mandatory documents after fulfilling the eligibility criteria at the time of joining the Institute.

Selection Criteria: Candidates who are in possession of the GATE/NET/INSPIRE-JRF certificate(s) valid up to January 2025 or later, in the above mentioned subjects, may be called for the interview directly.

Candidates who have not qualified any of the above tests or not in possession of valid GATE/NET/INSPIRE certificate(s) will have to appear for a written test and a personal interview at IIG, Navi Mumbai. However, if selected, they will have to qualify any of these tests within one year and as stipulated by the University, where they will register for Ph.D.

Place of Research Work: The selected candidate will carry out his/her research work either at IIG Headquarters in Navi Mumbai or any one of the regional centres (EGRL- Tirunelveli/KSKGRL-Prayagraj/NEGRL- Shillong) of IIG

Travel Assistance: Second class train fare by the shortest route will be paid to the outstation candidates, subject to the submission of photo copy of the valid travel ticket.
