CALL FOR CHAPTERS-ACADEMIC EDITED BOOK

POWER, POLITICS, AND PEOPLE
Academic Contemplations on Contemporary Global Scenarios

  • Publisher: Emerald Publishers (India)
  • Scope: Academic Edited Book (Humanities and Social Sciences)

Concept Note: The world of the marginalised and voiceless group of people is always under the pressure generated by the dominant power structures that create and manipulate ideologies according to their desires for the uninterrupted exercise of authority, power, and wealth. The supremacy imposed by the state using its ideological and repressive apparatuses, the tactical employment of political agendas, the patriarchal exhibition of masculinity, cultural predominance, religious fundamentalism, caste oppression and discrimination, racial and ethnic intolerance, imperial invasion and intrusion, corporate capitalism, exploitation and privileged access to hierarchical elite levels, and the manifestation of interpersonal, institutional, and internalised levels of oppression that occur with it, highlights the expression of the use of power as a coercive tool against the individuality and social co-existence of people. Recent global issues of war, invasion, forced displacement and migration, racism, regional and international border conflicts, censorship and bans, religious intolerance, violence, revolution, and terrorism, all point to the predictable or unanticipated outcome of creating uncertainty, crisis, and anxiety about the meaning of life. A large group of people are directly or indirectly affected by the consequences of the conflicts and complexities initiated by minorities and the resultant adverse effect on the overall peace, freedom, and decision-making of respective governments. These hegemonic influences evident in various sectors of society limit the potential and practice of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.

This edited academic volume invites scholarly perspectives, essays, and articles to explore the role of power, politics, and associated factors in determining the existence of people who are neither involved alongside the power structures nor avoided so as to escape from experiencing the coerciveness imposed by the domination on them. The broad theme of the book, Power, Politics, and People, provides the scope for associating it with several sub-themes that help to converge the conceptual and theoretical frameworks for analysis and discussion.
