Call for Interns: Research Intern at Imago Global Grassroots

IMAGO was founded in 2014 by Isabel Guerrero and Zachary Green to close the missing middle in development. Our goal is to help grassroots projects scale the impact of their effective development solutions through participatory and human-centred approach. We work closely towards designing, implementing, and evaluating initiatives that drive sustainable change.

  • Research Intern, MOVE Project – India Office
  • Location: New Delhi with travel expected to Bihar and Gujarat
  • Duration: 2-3 months, expected effort of 30-40 hours per week
  • Stipend: INR 12,000 per month (travel and accommodation will be covered during fieldwork)

Project Description

SEWA established the Women Enterprise Support System (WESS) under the MOVE project to assist women’s collective social enterprises in achieving financial sustainability and enhancing the income and empowerment of their members. IMAGO is supporting SEWA’s implementation of MOVE by conducting a rigorous adaptive evaluation of WESS interventions. The adaptive evaluation design aligns with the project’s complexity and exploratory objectives, aiming to understand how WESS can bolster the sustainability of these enterprises and examine their impact on individual women’s economic well-being and agency.

Position Summary & Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Intern to assist our team with an ongoing qualitative research project focused on understanding the impact of women’s collective social enterprises on the economic and social empowerment of their members. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in field research, data collection,and data analysis within the context of women’s empowerment and agency.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Research Associate with qualitative data collection through in-depth interviews, and field observations in Delhi, Gujarat, and Bihar.
  • Transcribe and translate (if necessary) audio recordings of interviews and discussions.
  • Synthesize and analyze qualitative data.
  • Contribute to the preparation of presentations and other deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed field notes and documentation.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • Strong academic record and proficiency in qualitative research methods.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi (knowledge of other regional language, Gujarati is an advantage).
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and organized records.
  • Willingness to travel and conduct field work in various locations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
