Applications are invited for the positions of Project Assistant, Junior Research Fellow and Post-Doctoral fellows in the School of Biosciences at Chanakya University, Devanahalli. The successful candidates will participate in the ongoing research projects of the faculty and provide support for the operations of the laboratory and the school. The positions are purely temporary and coterminous with the project. The position will be available initially for one year and can be extended based on the performance.
Responsibilities:
Project assistants will participate in the ongoing research projects of the faculty and will also provide support for the maintenance of the equipment and laboratory space.
Junior Research fellows will participate in the ongoing research projects of the faculty and suitable candidates will be enrolled for the PhD program at the University. Candidates with their own fellowships such as NET-JRF, DST-INSPIRE and DBT fellowships are preferred however, Chanakya University will provide few fellowships for outstanding candidates.
Post-doctoral fellows will be working in an ongoing research project of the faculty or independent research projects under the supervision of a faculty. In addition, the candidate should also have an interest in teaching and participate in the ongoing education programs.
Educational Qualification
Essential Qualifications, Experiences and Skills for Project Assistant (position code- SBS-RPA-01)
- Master’s degree (M.Sc. OR equivalent) in Life Sciences/ Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Zoology/ Genetics or related subjects with at least 60% of marks or 6.50 CGPA from a recognized university.
- Hands-on experience in any of the research areas including Cell and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, computational studies such as Genomics, Structural biology, Drug discovery and Bioinformatics
- Good IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office packages.
- Ability to carry out basic maintenance of general lab equipment and resources.
- Good organisational and prioritisation skills, ability to maintain accurate records.
- Team player and willingness to learn
Desirable Experiences and Skills:
Experience of working in industry/ academic institutes/ R&D laboratories
Essential Qualifications, Experiences and Skills for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) (position code- SBS-RSRF-02)
- Master’s degree (M.Sc. OR equivalent) in Life Sciences/ Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Zoology/ Genetics or related subjects with at least 60% of marks or 6.50 CGPA from a recognized university.
- Hands-on experience in any of the research areas including Cell and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, computational studies such as Genomics, Structural biology, Drug discovery and Bioinformatics
- Good IT skills including use of Microsoft Office packages.
- Good organisational and prioritisation skills, ability to maintain accurate records.
- Team player and willingness to learn.
- Commitment for long-term research
Desirable Experiences and Skills:
- Candidates having their own fellowships such as NET-JRF, DBT or DST-INSPIRE or ICMR or UGC NET or CSIR NET are preferred
- Laboratory research experience
- Motivation to work on a long-term basis
- Experience in industry/ academic institutes/ R&D laboratories.
Essential Qualifications, Experiences and Skills for Post-Doctoral fellows (position code- SBS-PD-03)
- Ph.D. in any relevant areas of Life Sciences/Biosciences (Biotechnology/ Microbiology/Biochemistry Zoology/ Computational Biology/Bioinformatics/Genetics or related subjects.
- Good publication track record
- Good IT skills including use of Microsoft Office packages and working with online databases.
- Good organisational and prioritisation skills, ability to maintain accurate records.
- Team player and willingness to learn.
- Teaching experience/Willingness to teach
- Good presentation skills
Desirable Experiences and Skills
- Experience of working in industry or academia
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Organizing training/meetings/workshops and conducting outreach programmes
