Call for Research Assistant at BITS-Pilani, Hyderabad Campus

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the position of Research Assistant (1 vacancy) to work on the following project sponsored by ICSSR, Govt. of India, under scheme, under the ‘History and
Sociology of Art, Craft, Culture and Folk Traditions of the Regions of India’ under the supervision of Prof. Maya Vinai (Principal Investigator) and Dr. Tony Sebastain (Co- Principal Investigator), Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, BITS-Pilani, Hyderabad campus

  • Title of the project: Ship-building in Folklore: Orality and Memory in Tottam Pattu of Marakkalathamma
  • Duration of the project: 2 years
  • Fellowship amount: Rs. 37,000 per month + HRA (as applicable according to ICSSR norms)
  • Last Date of Application: 12th April

Eligibility requirements

  • M.A. in History/ Folk Lore Studies/ Cultural Studies (with minimum 55% marks) with NET/ M.Phil./ Ph.D.
  • The candidate should have an excellent knowledge in Malayalam (both written and spoken) as the project extensively involves a lot of engagement with colloquial Malayalam.
  • A fairly good knowledge in Folklore and Intangible Heritage of India and a background to Kerala History is desirable.
  • Age limit- as per ICSSR norms

Only qualified and suitable candidates will be selected for interview to be held through Google Meet platform, which will be sometime around the 3rd or 4th week of April. Selected candidates may be permitted to register for Ph.D. programme of BITS, Pilani, subject to the fulfillment of all the requirements as prescribed by the Institute
