The English Language Teachers’ Association of India (ELTAI) is pleased to announce a call for the position of reviewers for the prestigious academic research journals published by ELTAI:
- Journal of English Language Teaching (Print – ISSN: 0973-5208)
- Journal of Teaching and Research in English Literature (Online – ISSN: 0975-8828)
- Journal of Technology for ELT (Online – ISSN: 2231-4431)
We are looking for qualified individuals to contribute their expertise and knowledge in the fields of English language teaching, English literature, and technology for English language teaching, respectively.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Qualification: Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field.
- Publications: Applicants should have a minimum of 2 publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals within the past 4 years.
- Familiarity: Reviewers must be well-versed in academic writing style, the format of research papers and the citation style (7th edition of APA / 9th edition of MLA) followed by the respective journals.
Preference: Preference will be given to short- and long-term members of ELTAI. However, all eligible candidates meeting the specified criteria are encouraged to apply, irrespective of their ELTAI membership status
Commitment:
Selected reviewers are required to
- review a minimum of 10 papers per year.
- review submitted work in an objective, responsible, impartial and timely manner.
- maintain absolute confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and keep their identity hidden from authors.
- report to the editor(s) any similarity between submitted manuscripts and other published works of which they are aware, or any other suspected ethical misconduct.
- provide ‘follow up’ advice to the editor(s), if requested.
Tenure:
- The tenure of the position is two years, starting from January 2024 to December 2025.
Voluntary Position:
- This position is voluntary and purely non-remunerative.
- For every reviewed article, reviewers will receive an acknowledgement and appreciation email. They will receive an appointment letter and a certificate of recognition at the start and the end of their tenure respectively.

Selection Procedure:
- All applications received by the specified deadline will be thoroughly reviewed by the editorial board of the respective journals.
- The selection process will be rigorous and based on the applicant’s qualifications, publications, familiarity with the journal format, citation style, and overall fit with the scope of the journal.
- Shortlisted candidates may be contacted for further discussion or additional information. The final selection of reviewers will be made based on the applicant’s qualifications and the needs of the journals.
Announcement of Results:
- The editorial board aims to complete the review of all applications by November 30, 2023.
- Successful applicants will be notified via email by December 10, 2023.
- The selected reviewers will also receive a formal appointment letter outlining their roles and responsibilities.
- The selected reviewers will also receive training for 10 hours between 11 and 23 December 2023.
