About the Competition
CINERAMA 2024 Objectives
To provide the budding filmmakers and students a platform to showcase their creative ideas to the world.
To provide an opportunity to interact with Industry experts and gain the necessary skill and exposure.
Rules For Participation
- One team/Individual can submit any number of short films but they have to register separately for each film.
- Entries will be accepted only with the copy of Valid ID Card.
- Participants allowed per film – 2 members. For every additional Participant – Rs.400/- using the QR code on the poster.
- Maximum duration of a short film is 40 minutes.
- Spot entries are not entertained.
- Only the Short films made after January 1st 2023 are Eligible for Qualification for Cinerama – 2024.
- Language of the short film can be either in English or any Indian languages with English Subtitles Mandatory.
- Story should be original. Films with the copyrighted content, obscene scenes, vulgarity and dialogues will be disqualified.
- Participants should report at the reception desk on the day of the event and should carry their valid ID card without fail.
- The Nominees qualified for the final round will be intimated well in advance and must ensure to be present for the Short Film Festival physically at the Amrita Mysuru Campus.
- The Organisation reserves the right to change any rules of the event if the situation demands. Judges decision is final and binding.
- Management is not responsible for any loss of personal belongings and valuable.
- Registration Form can be completed only after the entire payment process is complete & the payment proof is attached.

In This category participants across the country can send in their Short film entries which should be not more than 40 minutes in duration. It can be any Indian language with English Subtitles as mandatory. Only the Short Films produced after January 1st 2023 are eligible.

60 Hrs Film Making
Amrita 60 Hour film Making Challenge
The 60 Hour Filmmaking Challenge welcomes participants nationwide within India. The filmmaking period for Cinerama’s 60 Hours Filmmaking Challenge is set to commence from: 25th January 7.30 pm to 28th January 7.30 am.

Rules and regulations:
- The Amrita 60 Hour Filmmaking Challenge welcomes participants nationwide within India.
Maximum Participants allowed: 5 members - The filmmaking period for Cinerama’s 60 Hour Filmmaking Challenge is set to commence from: 25th January 7.30pm (IST) to 28th January 7.30am (IST)
- Participants must submit their films using the provided upload link to their Team Leader, which will be shared once the challenge kicks off.
- The entire film should be filmed during the designated period, and the team must furnish proof upon request.
- Films should have a duration of at least 4 minutes and a maximum of 6 minutes, excluding end credits.
- The theme and a mandatory element will be revealed online on “Amrita Mysuru” Instagram page and sent to the registered Team Leader’s Email ID and SMS/WhatsApp.
- Teams can choose from 4 genres along with the theme, selecting one for their film.
- Films can be in any language, but English subtitles are mandatory, provided in a properly formatted SRT file
- All team members must volunteer.
- Teams can use a DSLR, professional film camera, or a mobile camera with a minimum capture of 1080p. Editing should be done on a laptop.
- Teams are encouraged to collaborate with local composers and musicians for music.
Copyrighted tracks can be used up to 15 seconds with proper credits. - No stock footage or pre-existing footage is allowed. Photographs can be used if the team has the rights.
- End credits should not exceed 60 seconds and are separate from the maximum 6-minute film duration.
- Teams must use the provided ‘Opening Slide,’ including Cinerama Title Slate, at the beginning of the challenge.
- Teams need to sign and submit the Creator’s agreement online, sent along with the theme mail.
- The final video should be in MP4/MOV/MPEG-4 format, 1080p, and below 2 GB, with file names using the Creator ID.
- Ideally, teams should allocate 58 hours for filmmaking and 2 hours for upload during the 60 hours’ challenge. An extension of 2 hours is allowed only for genuine technical issues, with deductions for late uploads.
- Films must not contain content violating personal rights, religious beliefs, inciting violence, or derogatory remarks. Privacy invasion is prohibited.
- Teams must retain original footage and project files for three years for potential broadcast purposes.
- Cinerama may modify rules before the filmmaking period without prior notice.
- Cinerama and the jury reserve the right to disqualify any film deemed inappropriate or non-compliant
- A compulsory element will be provided at the challenge’s start, subtly included in the story.
- Teams must upload at least one Behind-The-Scenes (BTS) on Instagram, tagging the page “Amrita Mysore” and hashtag “#cinerama2024”

Workshop

- The special attraction for this year’s CINERAMA 2024 Short film festival would be the workshops on both the days. Experts from Indian Film Industry will be called for an exclusive One to One Talk and Q&A session with Participants.
PARTICIPATION FEE STRUCTURE :
- 2 Participants per team can take part alongside their registered Short film for Cinerama.
- For every additional Participant after that, a fee of Rs 400 should be paid, which includes the Workshop Sessions and Short film screening and award distribution on both the days.
- Participants interested to take part only in the Workshop session can do so by paying the registration fee of Rs 400 per head.
