The objective of the conference is to create a consciousness on the shifting gender dynamics and explore the interrelationship between texts, space and power in framing gender.

The concepts of gender, space, and power have significant social, political and cultural implications. Cultural conditions frame gender constructions in literary texts. The depiction of gender construct and its interrelation with space and power in the text is the focal point of this Conference. Recent discourse on politics, history, policy and power, has generated discussion on the extent of impact of politics of gender on the society and the individual.

Despite gains in certain countries for justice and equality, people around the world are still constrained by patriarchal hetero-orthodoxy and resultant inequality, discrimination, oppression, and violence. In the contemporary neo-liberalist and capitalist societies there are debates about gendered inequalities, with greater focus on social structure and hierarchy
