About Talk: This talk is based on a qualitative study of the adoption and use of a crowd work platform by low-income women in India. The study found that women faced tremendous challenges adopting digital crowd work. While it took a toll on their physical and emotional wellbeing, it also led to increased confidence, agency, and autonomy. While discussing ways to reduce frictions and tensions in participation of low-income women on crowd work platforms, I will also briefly touch on intersectionality and the digital experience of the marginalized sections of society
