One key feature of the 21st century is the increasing importance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in daily life. ICT has been accepted as a general purpose technology and has entered all sectors of the economy. This ten-day in-house workshop at CDS proposes to familiarize prospective researchers with the economic understanding of ICT and the impact of ICT on economies.
Workshop Theme
- Conceptualization of ICT in economics, and diffusion of ICT in the economy;
- Impact of ICT on capital and labour markets
- Impact of ICT on the sectors of the economy;
- The ICT industry in India and its impact on the Indian economy;
- Impact of ICT on society and governance.
Invited lectures from leading experts will be the main stay of the workshop. Participants will also be encouraged to present their ongoing/completed work in ICT. To complement the understanding of issues, there may be a group discussion on selected case studies among the participants.
The course is targeted primarily at Economics research students and young faculty members. The total number of participants would be 15. Boarding and lodging of outstation participants will be at the CDS campus. Travel expenditure of outstation participants will be reimbursed as per applicable norms. Attendance is compulsory throughout the programme. Preference will be given to those who can present their ongoing/completed work on ICT at the workshop.
Interested participants may kindly email a short bio (not more than 3 pages) that also contains their research interests in ICT and details on any ongoing/completed work in ICT.
