One Week Offline Workshop on Writing Skills

  • Registration Fee: Rs. 4000 without accommodation
  • Those selected for accommodation will have to pay Rs. 2,000 additional
  • Participation certificates will be given based on full attendance in all the sessions of the workshop

The workshop is designed for the doctoral students who are in their initial/mid/final phase of research. The main focus of the workshop is to develop the skill to aptly frame the research problem and structure a research proposal. The workshop imparts the understanding and skill on all aspects of the research proposal beginning with research questions, objectives, theoretical and conceptual framework, methods, review of literature, analytical writing, referencing and bibliography. In addition, it also focuses on reviewing a research article, book and writing a research paper for a good journal.

Eligibility: Scholars pursuing their PhD (beginners, mid-level and final stage) in Social Sciences in Universities and Research Institutions across India. Selection of the participants will be on first-cum-first-serve basis. Participants are requested to bring their own laptops.

For outstation research scholars Accommodation: As there is limited accommodation, it shall be provided to a few on first-cum-first serve basis.
Others need to make their own arrangements for accommodation. The participants have to make their own arrangements for travel.

  • Payment details will be conveyed to the selected participants. The selected candidates have to pay the registration fee by 2 June 2023

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the scholar will develop a deep understanding of how to write a proposal and thesis. Additionally, the scholar will comprehend the review of literature along with different styles of referencing. The scholar will also develop an idea of writing an article for a reputed journal.

About CESS

The Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) was established as an autonomous research centre in 1980. The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India) recognized it as a national institute in the year 1986 and included the Centre in its network of institutions. Conducting inter disciplinary research in analytical and applied areas of social sciences, encompassing socio-economic and other aspects of development, constitute the predominant activity of the centre. The centre conducts full-time PhD programme in Development Studies in collaboration with Telangana University
