Steve McConnell is CEO and Chief Software Engineer at Construx Software, where he consults to a broad range of industries and oversees Construx’s consulting and training offerings. Steve is the best-selling author of the industry classic “Code Complete,” as well as” Software Estimation: Demystifying the Black Art, Rapid Development,” and other titles. Steve has served as Editor in Chief of IEEE Software magazine and Chair of the IEEE Computer Society’s Professional Activities Board. Readers of Software Development magazine voted Steve one of the three most influential people in the software industry, along with Bill Gates and Linus Torvalds. When he retired, Dr. Tracz was a principal software engineer/application architect for the Global Combat Support System – Air Force (GCSS-AF) program. He is currently the Special Projects Coordinator of the ACM Special Interest Group on Software Engineering (SIGSOFT), a member of the ACM Professional Development Committee, and US, ACM representative of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) Technical Committee (TC) 2 – Software Theory and Practice. He has served as the editor of the ACM SIGSOFT Software Engineering Notes, general chair of the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE), and the ACM Foundations of Software Engineering (FSE).
