COLLOQUIUM– (A Multidisciplinary Research Journal of The Bhawanipur Education Society College)

  • ISSN 2350-1251
  • Volumes IX & X (2022-2023)

Concept Note

The history of Indian civilization is one of intellectual churning over thousands of years in diverse knowledge traditions. This is evident from the huge collection of intellectually rich texts available to us form the ancient Indian age down to the medieval ages. These texts offer us a vivid account of the theoretically-grounded and empirically- backed thinking process of the ancient and medieval Indian thinkers. Though a great deal of effort was put for understanding the intellectual

moorings of these thinkers in the earlier part of the modern age by the Indo-European scholars of pre- independent India, the same cannot be said for the post-independent Indian intellectual discourse which has largely been guided by the Westem vision of neo-scientific rationalism. This greatly undermines the immense value of the Traditional Indian Knowledge Systems and their contemporary relevance and prospects in the intellectual discourse of the new millennium.

Accordingly, the subsequent issue of the Colloquium [Special Issue: Volumes IX & X (2022-2023)] invites original. scholarly contributions on the following sub-themes (though not strictly limited to them only):

  • Traditional Indian Knowledge Systems and Modem Liberal Arts
  • Traditional Indian Knowledge Systems and Modern Sciences
  • Traditional Indian Knowledge Systems and Modern Education
  • Traditional Indian Knowledge Systems and Modern Governance
  • Traditional Indian Knowledge Systems and Community Empowerment
